Angela Virgo

Administrative Operation

 While having a focus on administrative paperwork and game day admission, Angela wears many hats at the academy. During the school day Angela handles food service, counseling, and standing in as a mentor and substitute for the classroom. Angela coordinates with S3 Academy and eligible schools for game schedules and manage travel arrangements. 

Angela started as a team mom for a Capital City Ballerz girls’ basketball team. She was born in Lawrenceville, Virginia and grew up in Reading, Pennsylvania. She played basketball for her Junior High School and played recreation basketball through High School. She is an enormous fan of the game of basketball. She has become instrumental in assisting with the administration of the boys and girl’s programs under the direction of Star Wills. She organizes and coordinates travel arrangements for out of town tournaments. She is also a volunteer for various activities in her church, the school and the community.

Kareem Reid

Director of Boys Basketball

Kareem Reid is one of New York City’s finest basketball exports. A former point guard, A McDonald All-American, a participant in the 1994 U.S. Olympic Festival where he helped his team win a silver medal and a very well-known streetball legend and a former Arkansas Razorback where he still holds the all-time assist leader record. His 15-year professional basketball career includes NBA training camps for several teams and as also a National Basketball Association Development League champion. Kareem also, went on to play professionally in several leagues in the United States and Europe. He also played for the Harlem Globetrotters.  After his playing career he returned home to New York, City and later relocated to Fayetteville, AR where he obtained his undergrade degree in Educational Studies. He’s also a mogul entrepreneur, having owned several businesses, Kareem currently is training and coaching some of the top players in the country to improve their fundamentals, skill development, agility, footwork, dribbling, shooting, critical thinking, and game situations.



Avery S. Wills

Head Coach

Coach Avery works hands on with his team in one-on-one training sessions for the players who need it. S3 offers training and conditioning during the school day and in the practice setting. Avery is instrumental in the planning and development for the expansion of the entire organization. Avery has past and present students that believe he teaches skills that will last a lifetime off the basketball court.  

Coach Avery was born in Virginia and played basketball growing up. His objective is not only to teach the students in the program the fundamentals and valuable skills of basketball. He also prepares them with lessons in responsibility, accountability, and perseverance on and off the court. He continually challenges athletes to work hard and move to the next level of building and improving their skills. He is very passionate about teaching students that if you have “heart”, you can do anything you set your mind to. 

Star Willis

President/Athletic Director

Star wears many hats within the Academy. Being the President, she also acts as the Principal of the school and athletic director. Star develops the basketball schedules, academic schedules, and facilitates game day operations. When S3 has out of town games, Star is always there with the students for support and assistant coaching. Star develops tournament schedules by coordinating with eligible schools, referees and coaches.

Star was raised in Richmond, VA and born in Brooklyn, New York. She is one of the founders of the Organization who grew up around basketball. She played the game of basketball since she was 5 years old. After playing high school basketball, she decided to start teaching youth the fundamentals of basketball. She has volunteered at various community centers, schools and churches. Most of her volunteer efforts were coaching youth ages 5-18 years of age. She also organized many successful basketball camps, clinics and one-on-one training sessions where players were able to learn the basic fundamentals as well as enhance their skill level.
